Hi everyone! i am Koh Jing Yuan(16) and this is my fifth and last post for the term. I am going to talk about my first training day in my CCA: Chinese orchestra.
My CCA starts at 2.20pm and ends at 6pm. The good thing is that we only have to go training only on Fridays. At the first day, i though the CCA starts at 2pm, so i rushed to SALT centre without having my lunch and found out that it starts at 2.20pm =.= . We went into the CO room and then sat there and waited for a teacher to come. He then told us that we are being distributed to different instruments randomly. Luckily, I was to sent to the strings section which then i the coach for the string section told me to play the Pipa and i was happy because I wanted to learn to play the Pipa.
The sec 1 in the string section sat at the back of the room specially for the strings section until 4pm and meanwhile we practiced the finger exercises that the coach told us to do. At 4pm, the senior then went up to the CO room for a mass music playing while the sec 1 stay in the room and get to try how to play the instruments. the caoch gave us some notes and asked the us to photocopy them. a kind senior gave us his photocopying card. when we reached the photocopying place, we discovered that the card only have $0.41 left -.- . We then ran back to SALT centre and asked for 1 more card and ran back to the photocopying shop.
Playing the Pipa is far more interesting than playing the piano. But the problem is i normally read piano scores, but the Pipa notes that the teacher ave us is written in numbers. For example: 1 stands for dou, 2 stands for re and so on.
But nonetheless, i like playing the Pipa and i am really glad that i joined chinese orchestra as it is interesting and there is alot of LEAP points and CIP hours to get =).
